Let me just say that Colin took the words right out of my mouth! Paul, while I'm sure you're human,.....well, has anyone ever made an acrylic top, because it really is a shame you'd ever cover that spectacular sight! Maybe that one should come with an inspection cam as an extra feature. Again, like Colin, work such as this is both intimidating and extremely inspirational. I can hardly wait for the showcase to be up and running so I can be inspired by all of the genius of those on this forum!!!!!! (No rush Lance!)

Colin, your words are very kind, thank you. Though I don't thing I live up to them, it's nice to hear praise nontheless.
You made an interesting comment that made me think...

There's absolutely NO reason to be intimidated. I think we all can do very near perfect work. Those that are "better" than others have either been at it longer or have more time to make things better.
I've met many builders that I put up on a pedistal above me. All but one were very down to earth people that were a true joy to be around. The one had let his fame (and without naming names, he's probably the most famous builder out there) go to his head and I found him to be a condescending prick...a waste of my presious time on this earth spending time with him. Hey, every rose has it's thorns. In fact I once heard that "life is a bed of roses, but watch out for the pricks". How appropriate.

Well I'm not convinced

Mistakes are part of the process, can't learn without them, regardless that is some mighty fine work there Woolson. I mean it as a comment of respect because like others I know how hard it is to get good clean work like that.

I remember last time at healdsburg someone had a guitar that was the body and back on display and it was just about perfect, it was kind of scary how good it was (I think it might have True North that did it). When your working hard to get the details right and you see something THAT good you go AWWWWWW!! :)

Paul don't get me wrong, but praise where praise is due, I have seen some amazing work on this forum, work that I would covet, Joshua's classicals, Craig's inlay work etc. I know we can all do first rate work, indeed others on this forum have been kind enough to praise my skills in rose carving on my lutes and also for my guitars. But sometimes you just see something that transcends the ordinary, something that just takes your breath away, that interior is just such an image. It doesn't matter what happened afterwards, it is a work of art complete in itself. So pat yourself on the back and accept the plaudits. We don't seem to have one now but I've made you my 'Luthier of the week'!
